It's been a while since my last post and I've vowed to get back into the swing of things and post more often. There have been so many changes in the past few months. What originally started out as my adventure in baking and cooking has now taken over and become a full time business.
I'm excited and thrilled at how fast word has spread about all the desserts and treats offered. We've partnered up with a very awesome wedding and event location here in the Sacramento area, as well as, a restaurant located in the El Dorado Hills area. Both places are stunning and we couldn't be happier to be apart of their team.
We've also jumped right into the dessert table business as well. The desserts and treats that we make and offer just fit in so well with the tables we design. I love doing them and I always love showing them off. :) I also love seeing what others are doing out there and hope to share what they do and who inspires me.
Can't wait to share all the fun things we create and the adventure this business is going to take us on. So many ideas to share and execute.. and I'm loving every minute of it.
I hope you find Simply Sweet exactly that... because we wouldn't want it any other way. :)

Yummy, Yummy Cupcakes
So again I was checking out Bakerella's site http://www.bakerella.com/ and low and behold, she had this new post showing S'more cupcakes. YUM... so, I decided to get in the kitchen and try this little delicious treat. And wow... were they good.
Then I got this bright idea to try another cupcake. My son loves Lemon Meringue Pie. He's actually been begging me to make one. So I figured I'd try to kill to birds with one stone. :) And here they are...
So super good. :) My son loved them and they made him smile.
So until next time! Happy Eating!

A week of Transformers, Cupcakes and Valentine's Day Treats... Whew...
The Birthday Boy is a Transformers Fan...
So my week started out with a birthday themed cake and cupcakes I had to do by Friday. A friend of mine works with a lady whose son was turning 5 this Saturday, and his favorite movie/characters are Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee from the Transformers movies. So I was asked to make 30 cupcakes and a cake for the birthday boy. I happily took this on, because who doesn't love cupcakes and I heard this would make not only the mom happy, but little Kevin as well.
Now, I'm not one that can just provide cupcakes and a simple cake. I had to make sure there was something to "present" them on. And that's where my crafty side came into play. I love doing little projects like this... even though they never seem to always be little.
Below is the finished cupcake/cake tower:
And because I love to dabble in the kitchen, I came up with the following (so far):

After getting this completed, it was onto the cupcakes and cake. I went with the colors of Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime (Red, Blue and Yellow), because they also reminded me of good primary boy colors. I think they came out really, really well.
I also made the circles out of fondant and piped on the 5 and K. Super easy and super cute.
Then it was onto the cake. I really wanted to make this a nice cake and kept with the same color theme and went with something a little different for writing Happy Birthday. This was my end result.
And the final project all put together....
Yay!!! I love it! Being able to make this made my day. And upon delivery to the birthday boy's mom, she loved it as well. Friday was a good day.
What to make for Valentine's Day....
While it's only the 10th of January, I've been asked to put a little something together for a friend who wants to present some different options to her company. Last year they went with decorated cookies, but she's hoping they go with something different. And because I love to dabble in the kitchen, I came up with the following (so far):
Marshmallow Treats
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
Milk Chocolate Candies
Red Velvet Cake Truffles
Cupcake
Cheesecake Lollipops
On the Red Velvet Cake Balls (Truffles) and Cheesecake Lollipops, I have to give credit where credit is due. One of my best friends (Amy) introduced me to this website (Bakerella) and I've been inspired ever since. I love all that she has posted and I'm excited to see what she will post next. :) Take a moment to check out her website and hopefully it will inspire you as well.
Well, what a week and weekend this has been. I'm excited to see if my friend will be successful in her quest to have something different at her company for Valentine's day for all the employees to enjoy and if they like any of the offerings that I'll be showing them. And I'm also looking forward to dinner this week. The plan is to make gumbo for the family and then something a little more on the gourmet side this weekend for my Honey. :)
Happy Sunday!!

My First Post... Let the food, fun and adventure begin!
I'm excited... this is my first blog and I'm thrilled! I can't believe I'm embarking on this little adventure and I'm happy to be doing so. This is going to be the year in which I try new things and I get out there and go for it.
I have started baking and cooking more this past holiday season than every before. Not that I'm not a person who doesn't know how to bake or cook, but I'm really getting into it more and more each day.
My Mother (God rest her soul) was a fantastic cook and I guess (in a way), I'm trying to keep her love of cooking and baking alive. And while doing so, I've found in myself, how much I LOVE IT!! :)
So with that said... I'm embarking on sharing my kitchen creations and my desire to make people smile through my love of baking and cooking.
Enjoy!!!
